A new chapter in Greenfield FC's history was written this week as our state-of-the-art training facility was officially opened by club legends in a ceremony attended by players, staff, sponsors, and community members. The complex represents the largest investment in club infrastructure in our 70-year history.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by former captain and club legend David Morrison, alongside current first-team captain James Williams. Both spoke passionately about what the facility means for the club's future.
World-Class Facilities
The new complex includes facilities that rival those of professional clubs across the country:
- Three full-size grass pitches with state-of-the-art drainage systems
- One all-weather artificial surface for year-round training
- A fully equipped gymnasium with the latest fitness technology
- Dedicated recovery suite including ice baths and physiotherapy rooms
- Video analysis suite for tactical preparation
- Modern changing facilities for all teams
"When I started at this club 35 years ago, we trained on a muddy patch behind the ground. To see these facilities now is beyond anything I could have imagined." - Club Legend David Morrison
Investment in the Future
Club Chairman Robert Hughes emphasized that the facility is an investment in the club's long-term future, particularly the development of young players through the academy system.
"This facility will allow us to compete with the best academies in the region," Hughes stated. "Our young players now have access to the same resources as professional clubs, which gives them every chance to fulfill their potential."
The complex will also be available for community use during off-peak hours, continuing the club's commitment to serving the local area. Junior clubs and schools will have access to the pitches, ensuring the facility benefits grassroots football across the region.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, a testament to the dedicated team of contractors and club staff who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
